“Absolutely the most rude and disgusting attorney. He invaded privacy and publicly humiliated me in court. I will be suing him for defamation and harassment. This attorney is an absolute joke”

I have high hopes of elevating this star rating when I see stellar service; but i am equally capable and content to scorch this single star with acerbic eloquence should I see less.”

“Joe and the people in his office are extremely helpful and on point. Joe in particular has a vast amount of legal experience in his years of practice. He's had roots in Henderson long enough that he knows how to navigate the courthouse very well. My parents used Joe's services over a decade and I have also gone to Joe with legal needs as well.”

“**Disclaimer: did not hire for legal services** I called all morning to find an attorney who could provide advice on whether or not a leasing process had followed protocol and if needed, I was going to hire for legal assistance. I was recommended Shumate's office & discussed over the phone my situation. He wouldn't provide ANY information unless I hired him so I asked the rate: $400/ hr. I said that I couldn't swing that with inflation (certainly not knowing if he is competent enough for the nature of the case); well, he couldn't get me off the phone fast enough. Obviously he's entirely entitled to do so, but by not answering even 1 simple question to prove he's competent to take on the case (should I decide it's worth the fees); I think people should be warned that this office provides zero preliminary consultation before deciding to hire. Nothing against Mr. Shumate personally, I'm just leaving this review for others who might find themselves in a similar predicament so that they don't waste their time.”

“Mr. Shumate and the rest of the staff have always been respectful and tried to answer any questions they could. Rusk county has corrupt cops and attorneys, so I am SO, SO grateful to have found an attorney who simply wants to help. He's highly intelligent and knows his strategies well. If you become his client, listen to him!! He's on. The expensive side, but worth every penny. So, if you manage his price and fees, then do it!!!”
