“A bail bondsman who works with people arrested by Jeff Davis County told me most arrestees are visitors or newcomers. A criminal defense attorney in Alpine said the same--most of his Jeff Davis clients don't live there. If you've experienced any of the following (all of which I experienced): Fake evidence used against you Refusal to collect evidence proving your innocence Denial of your right to an attorney Court refusing to hear your case Judge refusing to recuse despite conflicts of interest Ordered to pay the judge's friends for work never performed Harassment or threats from the county attorney Harassment or threats from other county employees Threatened with arrest for visiting public buildings Any other unethical or illegal conduct File complaints with: FBI (El Paso office) Texas Rangers Texas Attorney General's Office Texas Judicial Conduct Commission (for judges) State Bar of Texas (for attorneys) In 2025, at least two complaints were filed with these agencies regarding the county's questionable law enforcement practices. More complaints may lead to accountability--new leadership that enforces the law fairly instead of targeting visitors and newcomers while ignoring crimes committed by their own. If you're new to town or just passing through, mention this pattern in your complaint. Don't let them get away with it.”

“It's continuously saddening and incredibly heartbreaking that the lack of integrity in our government officials and local police has become normalized. It isn't becoming or honest to be part of a smear site that personally calls out a local publication. With that behavior, you've weakened your status as honorable and trustworthy. An incorrect way to conduct a county and a disrespect to its residents.”

“No very friendly people in this small town, the police was even worst. Next time I go to the area I will go directly to MARFA just 24 miles south. The only nice place the state park and the observatory, otherwise I am not coming back. Marfa in the other hand, the people were very helpful and friendlier, the food is excellent and on top you can drive 10 minutes to see the Marfa lights at night.”
