Initially, I was terrified to call, I had very high anxiety and low self esteem. This is a huge blow to most people. Christy Heimer was absolutely excellent with advising us, preparing the necessary documents plus submitting the documents to the Federal Bankruptcy Court. “I liked Ms. Heimer initially and was planning to hire her with my check this week. However, she refused to answer my one follow-up question regarding my PENDING divorce - which she was made aware of in my consultation. In an email that I got a few hours after my consultation, I was told that I needed to submit a divorce decree as one of the pieces of documentation. I asked for clarification, since my divorce is pending, but didn't hear back for over three weeks. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and reached back out to ask again. She responded that she would need it when I got it. I was left confused. So, I decided to rephrase my question for her and asked if my bankruptcy would automatically be rejected if my divorce wasn't finalized first. She refused to answer. I followed up a few days afterwards to ask again, just trying to determine my course of action, and nothing. I don't think it's too much to ask for clarification on one question. Especially if the answer to that question will directly affect the outcome of my case. I don't know about y'all, but I'm drowning in debt and I can't afford to pay my divorce attorney at this time. So I can't just run in his office, cash swirling behind me in my dust and spilling out of my pockets and pay him to finalize my divorce with my best interest in mind. I would be setting myself up for failure, because we all know that if you can't pay an attorney, they're not going to work hard for you. This experience has ultimately left me feeling like Ms. Heimer doesn't view me as human. I could see if I was nagging her, or had a million follow-up questions, but that's not the case. I do not recommend hiring Ms. Heimer unless you're case is clear cut, open and shut. If anything outside of that comes up, you'll be ghosted.”
